Several clearinghouses populate the Received Date in the BHT segment of an 837 electronic claims file and may have several different BHT segments within that file containing several different dates. We have a couple clients that have us populate these Received Dates in a memo field (or part of the memo field). By doing so, we are able to split the outbound file into multiple files. Each file contains only claims for a specific Received Date and that Received Date is also included in the newly created file name.
